Psychological help in dealing with a traumatic experience
Did you go through an overwhelming event? Or did you witness a situation that was life threatening to someone else? Do you experience feelings of fear, do you have nightmares or flashbacks even after a couple of weeks? Are you irritable and very alert? Do you avoid things that remind you of the trauma?
The intensity of your feelings is dependent on the severity and duration of the trauma and from how close you experienced it. How you deal with your feelings when your safety needs go unmet, is also dependent on your personal history.
In the sessions we will explore what the trauma means to you psychologically. When you connect with deeper psychological layers within yourself, your perspective on life may change. The trauma can help you realize what is truly important to you. With this new understanding and this new focus, you will find different ways to cope with overwhelming events in your life.
